How we camp
Short, because they should be easy to remember.
- 1Help first. Answer the question that was asked. If you can't, point somewhere useful.
- 2Show your work. Say where a resource came from, what level it's for, and what you thought of it.
- 3Be kind to beginners. Everyone is a beginner at most things.
- 4No spam, no self-promotion without value. Sharing your own work is fine when it teaches something.
- 5Respect privacy. Never post someone else's personal information, and don't pressure people to share theirs.
- 6Respect camps. What's shared in a private camp stays there.
- 7Academic honesty. Help people learn to do the thing. Don't do graded work for them.
Trust you earn
Nobody hands out trust here; it grows by itself as you take part, from your account's age, your posts, your level and your reputation. It decides a few things only, all listed below.
- NewcomerYour first 3 days, until you have 3 posts. You can post and reply; links you write show as plain text, you can start 3 threads a day, and you share library items privately or with a camp. Your reports are read, but they don't hide anything on their own.
- MemberEverything ordinary: share with the whole community, vouch for people you dealt with. A flag from you counts once.
- RegularAfter 21 days, level 8 and 10 reputation. Your flags count double, and you can list in the market and publish your camp's paths to the commons.
- StewardAppointed by staff from regulars. A flag from a steward hides something at once, pending review.
Flags and reviews
Use Report on any thread, reply, library item, profile or camp. Reports are private, and a report on a post is also a flag. When the flags on something add up (each counts by the trust of whoever filed it), it is hidden at once and waits for a moderator, who either keeps it hidden or brings it back. Its author is told either way. If more of your flags have been brought back than kept hidden, your flags count half until that changes. If flags hide 2 of your posts in a day, posting pauses for 24 hours while that happens. Staff posts are never hidden automatically; reports about them still reach the team.
The market
- Members offer and look for work, services and things: commissions, lessons, freelance jobs, gear, a hand with a project. Listing takes some history here (the regular level above).
- camp never holds or moves money between members. You agree the price and how you pay between you. Credits can cover small favours.
- When a deal is done, the other person records it on the listing and you confirm it. A vouch tied to a confirmed deal shows as a verified deal. Look at verified deals, vouches and how long someone has been around before you pay anyone.
- Not allowed: anything illegal, pirated or stolen material, and doing someone's graded work or sitting their exams (teaching yes, cheating no).
- If a deal goes wrong, report the listing or the member. We act on scams.
Keep it here; links are citations
Write guides, notes and how-tos here rather than pointing elsewhere. When you share a link, say what it is, why it matters and how to use it, so the item still teaches if the link dies. Upload the file itself only when its licence allows.
Enforcement
Camp owners and moderators handle their own camps. Site staff handle the public forum, the library and the market, review what flags have hidden, and step in when a camp is being used to harm people. Every moderation step is written to a log with a reason. Questions go to Site Feedback.
